A new initiative by the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors seeks to boost the nation's financial literacy by giving members the resources they need to teach the subject in their communities, the industry news site InsuranceNewsNet reported.
NAIFA has produced a one-hour course that members can use to teach financial literacy, according to the site. It has also created a website—FinancialSecurity.org—that introduces consumers to basic concepts about the subject.
"We'll discuss things as basic as what a checking account is, what a savings account is, as well as protection products like insurance and then planning for the long-term with retirement savings," NAIFA CEO Kevin Mayeux said.
The inspiration for the project came from NAIFA's most recent strategic plan, he explained. One of the plan's goals is having strategic advisers seen as a more proactive resource for their communities. http://bit.ly/380jcW5
